Just so I don't have to keep restating myself (though I do love to mention it) --

I use a Wacom Intuos3 tablet and Photoshop CS2.
The Intuos3 cost me $400, but it was one of the best purchases of my life. The moment I got the thing, I was giggling with glee; with only a few hours practice, I overcame the unusual sense of control and was well on may way to making inane sketches of angry men.

If you want to improve your digital art, toss that mouse and get yourself a tablet. The only one I can really recommend is the one I have, but I know the price puts a lot of folks off.

There are many different venues for a digital artist. You can show off on DeviantArt for a bit, take some comissions, and make some money.
Before you know it, you've got yourself a portfolio you can show when applying for graphics designer related jobs (like in the video game industry, eh?)

Or if you're like me, a simple hobbyist, just wanting to sketch without the smudging, sharpening, paper-cuts, and eraser smearing, you get this baby.

Seriously. Easiest preparation and clean-up in the freaking world.

If you want more information, ask at any time.

Q1) Where is the easiest place to steal one of those babies?

Or failing that : Q2) How much does an average soul sell for these days?

A1) Probably at a high class graphic design academy; or you could get a 40-man raid going on an NCIX or Newegg warehouse somewheres. :3

A2) I don't think Satan or succubi or any of your soul stealing/eating/collecting/enslaving folks have been around for ages. The only people who value souls are the idiots who think they've lost theirs, and not once have I met one so stupid.

In any case, you could always go for the quite cheaper Graphire. I understand they are still of good quality; they just seem to come smaller.
Mine is the 6x8 model I believe.
Hell, you ought to see how expensive a Wacom Cintiq is. Your testicles will collapse in both awe of its greatness and its price.

That is to say "my Intuos3 is the 6x8 model I believe".

Chances are you will get one of my sentences today.
I just did a whole bunch of them.

Enjoy.

Two more sentences just now.
About half of the games should be mine.

I have the Graphire, and it is glorious (although I have never tried anything better, and I am clearly not as talented an artist). but still, I recommend it.

Oh, god. No. I hate webcomics.

Why would you ask that? What did I do?
*looks at date*

Oh, bosh. Nevermind.
